Tatyana Lebedeva, Russia, 15.36 meters (50 feet, 4¾ inches). March 6, 2004. Lebedeva’s leap also stands as the overall indoor world record.

12. Shot put

Ulf Timmermann, East Germany, 22.24 meters (72 feet, 11 inches). March 7, 1987.

Heptathlon: Dan O’Brien, United States, 6476 points. March 14, 1993.

 

Pentathlon: Jessica Ennis, Great Britain, 4937 points. March 13, 2010.

14. Race walk

5000 meters: Mikhail Shchennikov, Soviet Union, 18:23.55. March 10, 1991. Shchennikov also holds the overall world mark of 18:07.08, set in 1995. The race walk is no longer contested in the World Indoor Championships.

 

3000 meters: Yelena Nikolayeva, Russia, 11:49.73. March 12, 1993. The race walk is no longer contested in the World Indoor Championships.

15. 4 x 400-meter relay

United States, 3:02.13. March 9, 2014. The mark was set by Kyle Clemons, David Verburg, Kind Butler and Calvin Smith. The U.S. team was slightly behind Great Britain after the initial leg, but Verburg moved into first place and the Americans never trailed again. The time also stands as the overall indoor world record.

 

Russia, 3:23.88. March 7, 2004. The record was set by Olesya Forsheva, Olga Kotlyarova, Tatyana Levina, Natalya Nazarova.
