Tyson Gay, 9.69. September 20, 2009. Gay set the U.S. mark at the Shanghai Golden Grand Prix. As of 2012, only Usain Bolt has run the 100 meters faster.

Michael Johnson, 19.32 August 1, 1996. Johnson set the world record at the Atlanta Olympics. The mark stood until Usain Bolt beat it in Beijing in 2008.
