Olympic and World champion Jeremy Wariner paced himself through most of the race, then made his move on the closing straight. Australia's Ben Offereins led the pack through the final turn before fading to sixth. Wariner, meanwhile, surged to the front and finished strong to win the first Diamond League 400-meter race, in 45.41 seconds, with fellow American David Neville taking second (45.70).
