After the Olympic Games, track and field's premier events are the World Outdoor Championships. Officially titled the "IAAF World Championships in Athletics," the Olympic-type meets are held in odd-numbered years and bring together the world's best male and female track and field athletes. The 2009 World Outdoor Championships will be held in Berlin, Germany on August 15-23.
