Three Kenyans scored victories in the next-to-last major IAAF road races of the year last Sunday. Joseph Gitau won Japan's Fukuoka International Marathon decisively, in 2:06:58. Kennedy Kiptoo Lilan triumphed in a fairly slow Singapore Marathon in 2:17:21, while Irene Jerotich Kosgei took Singapore's women's race in 2:37:54.
Geoffrey Mutai also enjoyed an impressive outing Sunday, winning the 15K race in 's Heereenberg, the Netherlands, in a course record 42:25, although he won by just one second over fellow Kenyan Philip Langat. Ethiopia's Atsede Baysa won the women's event in 49:15.
That just about does it for major road races in 2012, except for the annual New Year's Eve 10K run in Madrid.
