Olympic drug testers have claimed their first major track and field victim of 2012, stripping Nadzeya Ostapchuk of her shot put gold medal. The thrower from Belarus tested positive for the steroid metenolone.
Ostapchuk finished first in the women's shot put on Aug. 6 after recording the four longest throws during the final. New Zealand's Valerie Adams is the new gold medalist. Russia's Evgeniia Kolodko will receive the silver medal, while passing on her bronze to China's Gong Lijiao.
